I was given Jim Spicak's name by a neighbor who happened to be one of Jim's subcontractors. When I asked for recommendations Jim's name topped his list. He told me to start with Jim claiming, "Jim lists out exactly what you'll be paying for, and he's just honest."

The first job Spicak Construction completed for us was to rebuild parts of our house that had been torn apart for mold remediation. It was a messy and emotional time for our family, and we were very satisfied with the foreman, Rich ________, whose carpentry skills and pleasant personality made him great to have around during this difficult time.

Due to the quality of work we saw during our mold remediation, we never really considered using a different builder when we started our addition. Jim recommended Arif McAlpine, an architect, who was willing to work with our budget, and who listened to what we wanted in our "new" house. We were impressed with the plans Mr. McAlpine created, and impressed with how Jim worked with the architect to try and keep our costs in line but give us the space we desired. Jim even attended several zoning board meetings with us until our case was permitted to move forward by the city.

We began construction of our addition in July 2004. Once again we were impressed with the quality and speed of the work. We elected to stay in our house during construction, and although it was messy, Spicak Construction did everything possible to keep the mess to a minimum. Our foreman, Dennis Sullivan, was great. He is not only a skilled carpenter, but is knowledgeable in all other areas of building, and was able to tell us what to expect as work progressed. Due to the skills of Mr. Sullivan, and the attention Jim gives to each project, small design errors that could have become major problems were easily avoided.

During construction many subcontractors are needed, and Jim has found some of the best at their respective professions. Each one has been willing to answer questions, share information, and all have remained aware of the fact that they were in our living space.

When questions or problems arose, Jim or one of his office staff was always prompt and courteous in returning phone calls and making sure we got whatever was needed.
